Public Launch at FUN 2020

After a rebrand at the beginning of 2020, we took our new look out for a spin at FUN in Orlando. I’ve worked a couple shows before, but this was the first one with Numismatic Marketing.

The show was pretty hectic; we were there all four days and were on the floor filming through Saturday afternoon. Our main endeavor was a video overview of the show for Premier Rare Coins, which had us hopping between events and interviews like madmen to capture the most important parts of the show.

Bob Hurst's opening speech

On Thursday we focused on filming the opening ceremony and hunting down the aspects of the show mentioned in Bob Hurst’s speech, like all of the different grading companies in attendance. We made our rounds to schedule a few interviews for later in the show and checked in with a couple clients.

We spent Friday morning at the David Lawrence Rare Coins table to get some footage for a quick video we’re working on for them. We got to capture some great customer interactions and drool over some fantastic coins in their cases (which is always a plus).

We also got to attend the PCGS Luncheon on Friday to film the speech given by Seth Chandler of Witter Coin. He brought two different collections to display which were incredible to see – the Perfection Witter Collection of Proof Seated Liberty Dollars and the Outstanding 1893 Perfection Witter Great Britain Proof Set. PCGS was incredibly accommodating in letting us set up and capture anything we needed.

Things finally calmed down a bit on Saturday. We wrapped up the last few shots for the overview video and finally got a chance to roam the floor and shop a little bit. We got to talk to plenty of dealers and introduce Numismatic Marketing to the world, which we didn’t have much time to do the first couple days.

Waiting in line to submit coins for grading

Overall it was a great show. Attendance was strong, and most of the dealers we talked to seemed to feel the same way. The food was an unexpected highlight; the convention center actually had a pretty wide variety of food options, from crepes to Chinese, most of which were surprisingly good. A personal highlight? I submitted some coins for grading that I’d been holding on to for a while – very exciting to finally see how my cherry-picks turned out (spoiler alert: very well).

I think this was a great start for getting our name out there, and we’ll be at quite a few more major shows this year. Keep an eye out for us on the floor, and don’t hesitate to say “hi” if you find us!
